Hobby Zone – Domitars and Nurgle
It has been a relatively quiet week on the hobby front due to some other commitments but some progress has been made non the less.
The first models of my most recent commission are done and I am pretty pleased with how they have turned out. Three Domitar Battle Autonoma in a black and yellow scheme to tie in with the clients Imperial Fists forces are certainly an imposing sight. I like the Domitar models but there is a distinct lack of movement in them due to how they build. I don’t find this as big an issue in the smaller robots but I would have preferred something closer to the Thanatar in structure. The fact the legs are one piece and there isn’t much movement in the ankles is a real hindrance. And although I do love a conversion, cutting up resin kits for a commission isn’t something I would do lightly.
I picked up the Blightwar box set at the weekend and I definitely feel a Nurgle Age of Sigmar force coming on. I have been playing around with ideas for Age of Sigmar for a little while and this seems to be where I have landed. The character on demon snail, I forget his name, is an amazing kit and I can’t wait to get some paint on it.
The Stormcast are nice also and I have a fair pile now that will probably get some paint and put on eBay in the future. I enjoy doing this mainly to scratch a painting itch and then it also helps fund my next project.
I picked up my ticket for the 40K open day in Novemeber so it’s time to really get a move on my Golden Demon entries. I may spruce up my Mech units and enter a few categories. Not that I have much hope of placing with them but it would be nice to maybe get a few of my units photographed by the team down there.
This week I have three Castellax to build and an Abeyant to convert which I am pretty excited about. Hopefully I will get a tester done for some Nurgle Demons and I have some ideas for basing them I want to try. I want to get some nice photos of the Domitars as well but that is something I try to do once I have a few things to photograph at once so may need to wait a little. And if I get really bored I have a Macrocarid that is midway painted..
I’ll keep posting work in progress pics on Instagram so come and find me and drop me a message!
