Hobby Zone – To4G, Armies on parade and my hatred of photography.
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks so the hobby progress has been slower than I would have liked. Happily as part of that I got to spend a day at Warhammer world and play a game on their stunning Spyral Prime board. I took a load of pictures which I will upload to a gallery but it was great fun. I also got to catch up with some of the guys from the Community team who I know from my time with GW and it’s always a great place to go for some hobby enthusiasm.
My Tale of 4 Gamers army is now in full swing and I am getting units closer to completion. I’m pretty confident of getting my first months pledge done and maybe even being a little ahead. I’m quite pleased with how they look given they have mainly been done in between other projects or whenever I had an odd hour to spare. I received my shoulder transfers yesterday so I can at least say I have one squad completed now.
Armies on parade is looming I am going to have to find a way to finish the board and scenery in time. It’s a competition I have done OK in in the past and I am quite looking forward to this year. Hopefully I can get all the bits I need finished to make a decent hash of it. A small part of my brain is trying to persuade me to enter the Age of Sigmar one the week before but given I still haven’t finished that army it’s probably a bad choice.
I have had a breakthrough on an Abeyant conversion I was working on for a commission and have a good idea of the final model, so I am hopeful of finishing that off shortly, I also have eyes on a couple more Magos conversions so it looks like there will be a lot of green stuff in my near future.
As well as the game at Warhammer World I have also played Malifaux for the first time and really enjoyed it. I am hoping to get more regular games in as discussed previously and the smaller skirmish games seem a good choice for a quick evenings entertainment. I am deciding on a Crew to paint up and hope to be able to show you more of that. My trip also lead to the inevitable over the top Forge World purchase so it would appear that a knight detatchment may be joining my Mechanicum forces soon.
Finally can I just say how much I hate photographing miniatures. I have been having loads of issues with lighting and due to some space issues it has meant I have a back log of models to photograph that I really need to address. I am hoping to have this sorted this week and if so I may even try putting some more tutorials together. I love the idea of tutorials or battle reports even but it is a huge investment of time so I would love any feedback from people who have either done it themselves or would be interested in that kind of content please get in touch!
